The Chinita Fair in Maracaibo

Every November Maracaibo celebrates Our Lady of Chiquinquirá, "la Chinita", patron saint of Zulia. If you are coming for the fair, stay with us in La Lago, a few minutes from the Basilica.

When it happens

The festivities begin in late October with the Bajada de la Chinita, when the image is brought down from its altar in the Basilica. Then the city lives almost a month of masses, processions, gaita music and fairs, up to the main day: November 18.

Exact dates for the Bajada and each event change every year. Check the Basilica’s official program before you plan.

Why stay at Santa Bárbara

  • About 10 to 15 minutes by car from the Basilica and the historic center, depending on traffic, and away from downtown noise so you can rest.
  • Air conditioning in every room: Maracaibo is still hot in November.
  • Our own power generator, so the air conditioning and internet keep running during a blackout.
  • Parking and a 24-hour front desk, for when you come back late from the gaitas.
  • Triple rooms and double-plus-single rooms for families.

Coming from abroad

Many people from Zulia come home for the fair. You can book online and pay with Zelle or USDT, or in bolívars by pago móvil or bank transfer. If you are booking for family, enter their details and we will contact them.

Book early

November is the busiest season in the city. Reserve your room online, report your payment on the same page, and we will confirm as soon as we verify it.

We pre-filled November 17–19; you can change the dates.
